BURN BAN IN EFFECT IN CHELAN COUNTY

The Lake Chelan Valley offers a variety of tent and RV camping and boat-in camping for outdoor lovers. Whether you like to rough it in the backcountry or stay near the city and bring your trailer, there is a site to suit your needs.

The Lake Chelan State Park on Chelan’s South Shore, is only 9 miles from downtown Chelan. Closer to town is the city park, Lakeshore RV Park. The city park is a great place for the whole family--complete with a marina, skate park, night security and swimming area. There are several campgrounds on Wapato Lake, a smaller lake in Manson. Wapato Lake is very popular fishing lake and hosts two campgrounds, Kamei and Wapato Lake. Two private campgrounds within a half hour of Lake Chelan offer horseback riding with water views. Campers can stay at Lightning Pine, a grass park on the Methow River, or Whistlin’ Pine Ranch on the South Shore of Alta Lake.

I didn’t make a reservation. Can I still camp?

Most campgrounds offer some first-come, first-serve sites. Popular summer weekends get booked months in advance. The Chamber strongly recommends making reservations well in advance. The US Forest Service & National Park Service offer campsites throughout the Chelan Valley. All are first-come/first-serve; however, these can quickly fill during popular weekends.

For information on boat-in and hike-in campgrounds, contact the Chelan Ranger District at 428 W. Woodin Avenue, Chelan or call (509) 682-4900.
