Boating & Water Sports

Some say if you haven't experienced Lake Chelan on the water, you haven't really visited. While we know there's a ton to do even if you never dip your toes once...what's the fun in that? From spring through the autumn, Lake Chelan is a Mecca for sailors of all stripes and styles.

With its 50.5 mile long expanse, glacier-fed cobalt blue waters, and nearly-guaranteed summer sunshine, Lake Chelan promises memories whether you plan to fish, play, take the water highway to the wild & untamed North Cascades, or take your wakeboard out for  serious workout.

This long lake features two personalities.  The lower 25 miles of the lake, called the Wapato Basin, is the playground of choice for most fun-loving water fans. If your agenda includes kneeboards, water skiing, tubing, personal watercrafts, or simply drifting with sunglasses on your head and something cool in your hand, this is the place to be. Above 25-mile creek, much of the lake serves as a highway to the rugged, untamed headwaters of Lake Chelan.  The calm, still waters near Lucerne and Stehekin are perfect for kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards to explore unspoiled shorelines teeming with sheep, bear, cougar, and birds of prey.
