Join the Community in Lake Chelan

With approximately 5,600 year-round residents and up to 25,000 in the summer months, the contrast in population in Lake Chelan can seem like night and day. In the summer, Lake Chelan is a thriving and bustling hub of vacationers and residents alike. In winter, it’s a cozy intimate affair with quiet restaurants, close-knit gatherings, and the best people you’ll ever meet.

The residents of Chelan and Manson come from many different backgrounds. Some are multi-generational families who have lived here for decades; others fell in love with the valley while on vacation and never looked back. It’s a place where art and agriculture meet and inspiration feeds off the diverse backgrounds of the people.

One of our favorite things about the Lake Chelan Valley is how welcoming and warm our community is. Whether you’re here for a weekend or a lifetime, you’re sure to find connection and meaning. You might find it while sipping wine and listening to live music. Or maybe while attending one of the many free events throughout the year. Or even while strolling Riverwalk Park at sunset.

Here are just a few ways to get involved in the fun, diverse, and inviting community of the Lake Chelan Valley:

Attend Events

There’s something going on all year-round in Lake Chelan. The Chelan Evening Farmer’s Market runs from May through September on Thursday evenings. It’s the perfect time to peruse produce and goods from local vendors while taking in the vibrant scenery. Grab a beer and a pizza at Local Myth afterward like the vendors often do! The Historic Downtown Chelan Association also offers many events year-round at no charge. These events include the Music in the Park series through the summer, a Dia de Los Muertos celebration in November and Small Town Christmas in December. Take part in the festivities and surround yourself with that small-town charm you’ve heard so much about. And don’t forget the famous Manson Apple Blossom Festival that occurs every May. It’s an experience unlike any other. Check out our calendar for more events!

Get Social

There’s no shortage of live music here in the valley, and there’s no better way to familiarize yourself with the community than some good old-fashioned dancing. Catch a show every Friday and Saturday night at The Vogue, Pub Music at Campbell’s Resort on Friday’s and various live music performances at wineries around the lake. If dancing isn’t your thing, head to Stormy Mountain Brewing for a night of trivia over a beer or two. Bring friends to form a team, or reach out to someone else who’s looking for a teammate. This weekly trivia scene is a mid-week convergence of tourists and residents alike and, in those dreary winter months, can be a great excuse to get out from under your blanket and get social!

Wine Taste

By now, we’re sure you know that the valley is known for its abundance of wineries and tasting rooms. But a great way to get a sense of community is to get to know the makers of your favorite wines! Join a wine club and receive wine quarterly, as well as attend wine club parties, take part in bottling, and other opportunities. It’s a great way to connect with other local wine lovers as well as the people who grow and make your favorite wines. To get started, check out our list of local wineries!

We think Lake Chelan is a beautiful and unique corner of our world. It’s only fitting that the people match it perfectly. We can’t wait to have you!
