Job Description:

Lake Chelan School District has an opening for a Safety and Security Specialist for 1 year only starting the 2022-23 school
year. This position is Monday through Friday, 7 hours per day, plus special events. Salary is $45.00 per hour and this
position is part of the Public School Employee Bargaining group.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor vehicles or people on the property.
• Assist with traffic control during student drop off and pickup times.
• Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area if necessary.
• Secure all exits, doors, and windows.
• Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
• Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions if observed.
• Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
• Help people in need.
• Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before the arrival of authorities.
• Submit reports for incidents that occur in your presence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with school age children from a variety of
backgrounds
• Possess the ability to maintain congenial and positive, service-oriented working relationships with students, staff, parents,
and the public.
• Job related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures, or regulations. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists.
• Must meet physical and mental standards necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities.
• Washington State Patrol/FBI Background Check
• Authorization to carry a concealed weapon on campus in the role of School Safety and Security Specialist.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,
depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to respond quickly to reports of threats or disruption.
