Job Description:
Overview
This position operates, monitors, and maintains Stehekin Electric Facilities. Performs regular inspections, supports maintenance and distribution crews, reads meters and performs minor and emergency maintenance repairs on the generating station and vehicles.
Responsibilities
• Monitor and perform daily operations of the generation station. Performs minor and emergency maintenance/repairs of generating station and vehicles
• Plant housekeeping including sweeping floors regularly, emptying garbage cans as needed, wiping down plant machinery regularly, keeping items picked up and stored, maintaining oil barrels, tops and side in clean condition, wiping up all oil spots from floor, sending out all 5-gallon pails or 55-gallon drums when empty, keeping plant entrances free of snow accumulations
• Inspects and maintains headworks and penstock on regular basis
• Performs operational switching
• Maintains roadway and trail to headworks.
• Installs or removes headworks trash rack as required for leaf and debris control
• Performs daily weather observations
• Makes reports to District Dispatch Office
• Patrols power lines
• Reads meters and reports reading for billing
• As a secondary function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.
Qualifications
Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.
• No post-secondary education required.
Experience
• Typically requires experience working in hydro operations and maintenance required. and
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing generation station and equipment is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
• Valid Driver’s License at hire and WA Driver’s License within 30 days of hire required.
• CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation with Valid First Aid Card within 180 days required.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive for the purposes of pre-employment testing for illegal drugs (other than marijuana) because the essential functions include operating motorized vehicle, heavy machinery, rotating or heavy equipment, or power machines or tools. Contract Rate
The rate for this position is $35.65 per hour.
