Winterfest Wine Walk

What more could you want than wine tasting in snowy Downtown Lake Chelan? This quintessential Winterfest experience has two chances to taste the award-winning wine being produced in the Chelan Valley.

  • The Tasting Tent, open Friday and Saturday, allows you to explore 20 wineries, each showcasing 2 of their best varietals. The Tent is 21+.
  • The Grand Wine Walk, open Saturday, allows you stroll through the downtown boutiques as you chat with the winemakers and taste their select choice of higher end wines. The Grand Wine Walk allows children to join you as you make your way through Downtown.

  • 2018 Estate Chardonnay: This Chardonnay was grown in one of the oldest commercial vineyards in Lake Chelan: Amos Rome Vineyards Block ’98. It was fermented 90% in Stainless Steel Tank and 10% in Neutral Oak Barrels, ensuring a clean, bright wine that has a softened mouthfeel.
  • Embers: Aromas of crushed red berries followed by underlying clove, spices and pepper  
  • 2017 Le Cortège Chenin Blanc: Showcasing some lovely lemon pound cake, honeysuckle and stone fruit aromas. This wine continues to maintain that great off dry, yet bright and refreshing appeal for an easy drinking and approachable wine. It is sure to please both the novice and connoisseur!
  • 2016 Provocant: An approachable blend with an elegant nose of currant, cherry and just a trace of inviting smokiness. The palate bursts with bright cherry, cranberry, polished hints of clove and peppercorn. A wide-ranging blend that is full, yet soft and able to accompany an array of pairings or enjoy as an everyday go to bottle!
  • 2018 Roussanne: Roussane was aged sur lies (on the lees) in neutral French oak barrels for 11 months, creating a wine with a light creamy texture and incredible aromatics.
  • 2016 Tri: 73% Syrah, 16% Mourvèdre, 11% Grenache -Tri blends the most common red Rhône varietals. We use both whole cluster and whole berry ferments and age in neutral French oak.
  • 2014 Rouge De Moraine – Estate Vineyard: A robust Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot is a real fruit bomb, layered with dark cherries, rich plums, and toasted oak forming the base of the aromas, with cherries, pomegranates and blackberries on the palate. The dense tannin profile is complemented by dark chocolate notes and good acidity making it a great food wine.
  • 2017 White Merlot – Estate Vineyard: A pretty, pale salmon hue, this elegant off-dry Rosé brings subtle streaks of white peach, plum, and white melon flavors accented by a lick of minerality that lingers through the finish. If you like crisp, fresh Rosés with some sweetness, this one is sure to please. Pairs nicely with turkey, chicken, pork, spicy foods, salads, appetizers, or dessert. Served Chilled. One of our all-time best selling wines!
  • 2018 “Sabrina” White:  The results of co-fermenting the Gewurztraminer and Riesling. 67% Riesling & 37% Gewurztraminer. The resultant wine presents itself as a beautiful complex – medium plus bodied wine. The Riesling added rich flavors and aromas of peach, green apple and slight citrus notes. As usual, the Gewurztraminer kicked in classic spice and nectarine notes. 
  • 2016 Whistle Punk Red Blend: The color is a striking purple – red. The nose offers blackberry, raspberry aromas plus a light clove note. Vanilla bean and toasted coconut compliments of the French and American oak barrel aging add additional aromas and flavors. The mouthfeel is very soft – almost plush.
  • 2015 Estate Viognier: This un-oaked 100% estate Viognier jumps right out at you. Let it rest softly in your mouth and the subtle floral hints will become evident. Connoisseurs will contemplate the tricky mind bender of complex intertwining flavors that tingle the senses. Our estate fruit really brings out the nice floral characteristics of the varietal on the nose with a full-bodied caramel mouth feel. Be patient, the smoothness will take you away.
  • 2015 Estate TNT (Bordeaux Blend): A Bordeaux blend style wine consisting of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Petit Verdot, 30% Merlot and 10% Carménère. This full-bodied wine has bountiful aromas and flavors of delectable plum, juicy blackberry, vanilla, baker’s chocolate, caramel brown sugar and anise. 
  • Lake Chelan Winery’s 2018 Pinot Grigio: Pineapple, Lemon, Star Fruit, Pear, Lime Zest
  • Wapato Point Cellar’s 2016 Cougar Ridge Syrah: Black Currant, Toasted Cedar, Elderberry, Vanilla
  • 2018 Syrah Rosé: This radiant slightly sweet Rosé exhibits the perfect combination of refreshing acidity, firm tannins and a strong sense of minerality while giving way to seductive aromas of cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, and cherries. Barrel aged for 9 months in French oak. Best served chilled.

  • 2015 Merlot: This full-bodied Merlot opens with alluring aromas of ripe plums, red cherries and spice followed by flavors of juicy red fruit on the palate giving way to subtle notes of vanilla bean, toasted oak and hints of mocha. Sweet cherries continue through the silky refined finish. Barrel aged for 46 months in French & American oak.
  • Viognier: This wine is lovely on the nose with focus on exotic floral aromas and hints of creamy banana, pineapple and ginger. The texture is a touch creamy that stays nicely bound to the rigid spine of supporting acidity. The heavy finish of this Viognier brings about peach, coconut, and bright fresh apple.
  • River View Red Blend: This phenomenal red blend has remained a perennial favorite at Rio Vista Wines. Aged for 20 months in American and French oak, this full-bodied wine carries notes of raspberry, cedar, and chocolate where silky tannins meet a scaffolding of spice. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the parade with equal parts of Malbec and Merlot to follow.
  • 2018 Roussanne: Bright citrus fruit, sourdough, chamomile, vanilla, lychee
  • 2017 Sunset: Boysenberry, dark chocolate, black tea, leather, cedar
  • 2016 Jolie:Cab Franc, Malbec, and Merlot. Fruit forward with pungent notes of boysenberry, violets, and dark, smokey chocolate
  • 2018 Spanish Dancer: 100% Estate Albarino. Reminiscent of the Flamenco. Luscious mouth feel, notes of peach, pear and melon.
  • 2018 Viognier: Fermented in stainless steel, this Viognier is Chardonnay’s exotic step-sister. It has aromas of orange blossom, honeysuckle, ripe peach and light musk. Its flavor profile includes white peach, nectarine, and apricot that balances perfectly against the luxurious finish. Pair this with grilled lobster or a chicken salad topped with grilled apricots or peaches. 
  • 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon: Aged for 34 months in French oak, this Cabernet has aromas of ripe black cherry, dark berries, and nuances of coffee. Its flavor profile includes red and black berries, fruit leather and a touch of oak, which balance nicely against the soft tannins and lasting finish. Pair this with tomato-based pasta, Italian sausage, or grilled steak. 
  • 2017 Bridge Builder: This is sure to be your new favorite red! Deep ruby in color, this wine blends hints of mild leather, spice, and dark chocolate, creating beautiful layers. The result is a blend that is smooth and lingering. 
  • 2018 Sauvignon Blanc: This Sauvignon Blanc is crisp in style with beautiful tropical flavors. Honey, citrus, and ripened kiwi mingle on the palate resulting in pure, fresh, vibrancy. 
  • 2014 Estate Cabernet Franc: Earthy with expressive aromatics of tobacco, spice, cocoa and licorice. The finish has tons of deep fruit and age-able tannins.
  • 2014 Estate Syrah: A classical cool region Syrah. Full of Spice, black pepper, black cherry and dark fruits. Hints of vanilla and molasses carry through on the finish
  • 2018 Viognier: Orange blossom on the nose. Flavors of mango, papaya and a hint of honeydew.
  • 2017 Merlot: Black current and cassis aromas, tart chocolate cherry with a caramel finish
  • 2018 Nudo Chardonnay: This unoaked Chardonnay has aromas and flavors of ripe apple, pear and pie crust notes. Superb match with shellfish, smoked fish/salmon or poultry entrees. Salads finished with citrus juices, salt-pepper and olive oils also make for fine fare. 
  • 2016 Estate Sinistra: Well integrated aromas and flavors of black cherry, strawberry, light red plum and toasty oak. A perfect match with meals centered around rabbit and game birds (pheasant, quail etc.). Pasta served with toppings made of fresh garden veggies served in a red sauce are an excellent alternative.
  • 2016 Estate Riesling: This dry Riesling opens with a lush nose filled with aromas of apricot, orange blossom and pears. On the mouth flavors of citrus and green apple dominate rounded out with a healthy dose of acidity giving this wine a crisp finish.
  • 2017 Estate Pinot Noir:Notes of red raspberry and Bing cherry on the nose carry onto the mouth and are accented by a hint of clove and white pepper. Soft velvety tannins and a hint of tobacco accent the finish.

  • 2017 Foundation Red: A balance of cherry, dark fruits and a bit of pepper. Complex and built to last; aerate now or wait a while

  • 2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon: Immediately present is a rich nose of vanilla and peppercorn with a light smokiness. Bold baked black plum and cherry flavors are balanced with peppercorn and clove. The smooth, refined tannins make this wine a gem on its own or can enhance heavy dishes like thick cut prime rib and porterhouse steaks. The 2016 Reserve is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot from Redpath Vineyard on Red Mountain. It was barrel aged for 32 months in 29% New French Oak, 29% New American Oak and 42% Neutral French Oak.

  • 2016 Consonance: 50% Petite Sirah, 45% Syrah, 5% Viognier- We blended whole berry fermented Petite Sirah with Syrah co-fermente with Viognier. Aged in neutral French oak for 22 months, this wine turns out to be inky and rich.

  • 2014 Malbec – Estate Vineyard: This medium-full body wine exhibits appealing aromas of plum, dark berries, herbs, and spice. The soft flavors display a mixture of dark fruit and spice that linger and provide an easy drinking pleasure. Pairs nicely with pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, roasted meats, and spicy foods.

  • 2016 Tri*Umph: The color is a lovely purple – red. Ripe red and black fruits are found in abundance on the nose. The main players are; blackberry, raspberry and maraschino cherry notes. Vanilla bean and toasted coconut compliments of the French and American oak barrel aging add additional aromas and flavors. The mouthfeel is incredibly silky.

  • 2016 Estate Syrah: As usual this Syrah is 100% estate fruit. Powerful but refined best describes the character of this wine. This fresh and lively wine is bursting with aromas of black fruit, black pepper and pomegranate. On the palate, this wine has a light bodied velvety sensation. The intricate flavors of black fruite and spice are intertwined for a surprising, sustained peppery finish. “Smile awhile with this Syrah”.

  • S & M: Composed of 50% estate Syrah and 50% estate Malbec and shows beautiful fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry and blueberry with aromas of black pepper, leather and tobacco. These are two grape varietals that excel in the Lake Chelan climate and soils.

  • 2016 Amos Rome Merlot: Cedar, Black Cherry, Mocha, Blackberry, Coconut, Caramel

  • 2015 Cabernet Franc: Deep crimson in color, this 2015 Cabernet Franc opens with aromatic notes of dark ripe cherry, chocolate and sweet vanilla while mixing with Intense flavors of jam and black pepper. Smooth tannins round out the finish in this medium-to-full bodied wine. Barrel aged for 46 months in French Oak.

  • 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon: Rio Vista Wine’s Cabernet Sauvignon was created along the banks of the Columbia River. First, you will notice the exotic aromas of spicy black cherry and chocolate. Then as you roll the wine across your tongue, flavors of fresh blackberry, plum, and rich coffee are revealed. It’s complex character makes for a truly versatile and satisfying wine.

  • 2016 ASV Syrah: From our Grand Cru Vineyard in the Rocks District AVA of Walla Walla. A melange of boysenberries and black olives on the nose that is lifted by floral notes. The mid-palate is subtly savory with notes of smoke and wild herbs.

  • 2017 Cabernet Franc: Aged for 22 months in French oak, this Cab Franc has aromas of dark fruits, sweet herbs, and a little fresh tobacco. Its flavor profile includes ripe raspberry, cherry, black currant and subtle baking spices. There is a medium-high tannic structure, which balances perfectly against its juicy, lingering finish. Pair this with an arugula and goat cheese salad or cheeses like a creamy Brie or a strong Blue.

  • 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon: Unbelievable depth of color and a silky-smooth texture create a lovely, full-bodied wine. Blueberry immediately greets you followed by leather and green herbs. A bit of earthiness rounds out the profile creating an incredible complexity and a truly beautiful wine.

  • 2016 Reserve Syrah: Aromas of ripe Raspberry, Lapin Cherry, and subtleties of clove and vanilla introduces the complex structure of this wine in the nose. The silky-smooth tannic profile integrates beautifully with flavors of blackberry, chocolate, baking spice and blueberry preserves on the palate, providing a plush enveloping mouthfeel that lingers deep into the finish. A perfect companion to pairings such as honey-glazed ham and scalloped potatoes, grilled veggie skewers, or ribeye steak and sautéed mushrooms.

  • 2017 Estate Malbec: Currants, clove and a hint of cedar on the nose open to a mouth filled with red plums, cherries and a hint of cocoa. Fine grained tannins through the mid-palate make this an excellent wine for food or aging.
