The mission of LCRI is to establish the long-term trends in the water quality of Lake Chelan in the context of land use and climate change. Its clear waters are a vital resource to the community and to visitors from around the world. We must understand processes governing the lake’s clarity if we are to preserve the lake’s ultra-low nutrient status.
All you have to do is look out your window here and it all makes sense. Our vineyards surround one of the largest lakes in the United States, spanning over 50 miles in length. We experience what is called lake effect a moderating of temperatures in both summer and winter. The result is consistent temperatures, a long growing season, and reduced risk of extreme winter freeze. Our soils are pretty great too... layers of glacial debris, loess, volcanic pumice and ash have made for more than a century of tremendously successful horticulture in the area.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Our purpose is to improve lives through leadership and service worldwide.
The Manson Kiwanis club meets on Wednesdays (except holidays) at the Manson Community Grange Hall. Dinner is at 6:30 pm with the meeting starting at 7:00 pm.
The meetings usually run about an hour and include a program.
