Each year, young rodeo hopefuls and their families come from all over Washington State and beyond to take part in the Chelan Jr. Rodeo. Children, teens and in between compete in more than 50 combined events from mutton bustin’ to bareback riding, stake racing and steer wrestling, roping to barrel racing and more. These youth compete year-round at junior rodeos throughout the northwest region and even parts of Canada before arriving in Chelan where they will test their skills in one, two or several rodeo events. The goal: to accumulate enough year-round points in their respective categories and advance to the next level of competition.

Chris Frue plays songs that he heard as a kid, tunes off the radio, and original numbers that come from his imagination. He plays jazz music which is created and improvised in the moment. It is never the same twice!
