Job Description:
Overview of Coaching Staff Expectations
⮚ Assisting in leading and administering a program that is organized, well prepared, and operated
with integrity. Coaches should use athletics to teach valuable life skills and provide an exceptional
educational experience for the student-athletes.
⮚ Develop and maintain positive relationships with the student-athletes. Strive to be a quality role
model that the student-athletes feel comfortable going to for mentorship, always putting student athletes’ needs at the forefront and vigorously working to serve their needs.
⮚ Commitment to promoting the vision, values, and mission of the school district and athletic
department.
⮚ Demonstrate support of the entire athletic department.
⮚ Complete all required paperwork, certifications, and WIAA rules clinics.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
⮚ Prior coaching and/or playing experience in the sport at the high school or college level.
⮚ Assist in organizing, and executing off season, summer, and pre-season training programs.
⮚ Proven ability to coach at the high school level.
⮚ Ability to be energetic, motivated and willing to commit to the required time to have a successful
program in and out of season.
⮚ Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with
frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism on the
field of play and outside the game of football.
⮚ Communicate with school administrators, football parents, and community members.
⮚ Ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of football.
⮚ Must promote multi-sport participation for athletes.
⮚ Communicate, and collaborate with school strength and conditioning teachers to improve the
strength and abilities of all student athletes.
⮚ Ability to work with student athletes of different backgrounds, ages, and ability levels.
⮚ Willingness to work with staff.
⮚ Valid first aid and CPR card, or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
⮚ FBI, Washington State Patrol and Sexual Misconduct background clearance.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
⮚ Coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
⮚ Experience in developing a positive relationship with local youth and middle school programs.
⮚ Understanding of WIAA regulations.
⮚ Experience with fundraising through ASB or Booster Clubs.
