Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments Please let us know if you plan to attend by sending an email to: info@lakechelan.com About the painting: Ancient Advance depicts what Chelan looked like ~17,000 years ago as a tongue of the continental ice sheet advanced up the Chelan Valley. The ice sheet descended the Columbia Plateau and the Columbia River Valley before pushing up the Chelan Valley. Somewhere between Lakeside and Rocky Point, the ice moving up the valley met the glacier moving down the Chelan Valley. From that point in time the entire Chelan Valley was full of glacial ice until the ice began to melt ~15,000 years ago. Commissioned on behalf of the Lake Chelan Research Institute, Ancient Advance is the intersection of art and science, aiming to help viewers envision several hundred feet of glacial ice covering the City of Chelan. Ancient Advance will be displayed at locations throughout the Chelan Valley during the late summer and fall of 2025 (starting with the Chelan Chamber) and auctioned as a fundraiser for the Lake Chelan Research Institute later in the year. Manger Mall has been bringing hope and joy to local children and their families during the holiday season since 2009. Last year over 700 children in 300 families benefited from our program which is made possible through the generous financial support of individuals and businesses. Chamber Bucks Gift Certificates are given to children living within the Chelan and Manson school districts. New in 2024, Manger Mall will offer two opportunities for families to pick up their gift certificates: Friday, December 6 from 4-6 PM at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce in Chelan and Saturday, December 7th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the North Shore Bible Church in Manson. Families are encouraged to bring their children on Saturday as Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in from the North Pole to add to the festivities. Be sure to bring your phone or camera!!! Manger Mall continues to collaborate as a program with Chelan Valley Hope, a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
